There are many topics both modern and ancient thinkers discuss in their writings, such as the purpose of politics, the science of politics, human nature, as well as the ideal regime. By doing so, these thinkers’ views on political topics such as these illuminate how they thought politics should work and who should be able to participate in the activity of politics. Purpose of Politics To begin with, an important theme to discuss is what the modern thinkers believe is the purpose of politics. Machiavelli believes that the purpose of politics is the glory and stability of the state, in which we will refer to as â€Å"statecraft†. Hobbes believes in the security of the population to be the purpose of politics. Hobbes wants ensure that the people’s live s are secure and that there is no opportunity of leaving them vulnerable to each other. Locke wants to protect certain natural rights: life, liberty and property. However, when Locke discusses in protecting and engaging people into politics who own property, it excludes the people who do not harbor property; which, at that time, was a majority of the population (234). Love Is Never Silent Essay First off I would like to say that I really liked this movie. It was very informative and was well put together. I didn’t know what to expect coming to watch it, but now I understand why this movie was chosen and explains a lot about how families with deaf parents go about their daily lives and all the circumstances they go through. I would recommend this movie to everyone because I think it would make everyone understand a lot more about the Deaf Culture and it was an awesome film. I learned quite a few new things from this movie, that if you are deaf and lose your hand or fingers that you are basically an outsider to both the deaf and hearing world. I didn’t really think about that happening, but I now understand that having all your fingers and being able to show expression are really important. Another thing that I learned is back when this movie was made how deaf didn’t sign in front of hearing. This action showed me how explicit they wanted to keep their lives and how they communicate. I also learned that the separation between the two worlds has greatly reduced, compared to back then I would say we understand a lot more. After watching this video it left me with a couple questions. First off, like in the movie when the young lady hurt her hand, if she had lost it couldn’t she just finger spell? I know that would take a lot more time but don’t see how she would be considered an outsider if she still can communicate. Conclusion Designing and building a strategic objective is a crucial element for any business to operate successfully in the world today. With sacrificing family resources to educate a girl child and a potential future leader still a big societal challenge, any effort to see the education of a girl is a huge boon. So when millions of dollars are poured into the effort, the impact cannot be overemphasised. The Campaign for Female Education (Camfed), introduced some few years back, has seen remarkable change of fortunes to many a rural folk. Now, a US$19 million bursary programme has been launched to benefit 24 000 girls from disadvantaged families in rural Guruve, Mashonaland Central. The launch was conducted at colourful ceremony at Chifamba Secondary School in the area recently. With testimonies of previous beneficiaries of the programme giving the clear picture of changed lives, more girls are set to change for the better. Already, lives have changed and tales are being told. More are coming, definitely. Twenty-five-year-old Bridget Moyo was born in the dusty village of Wedza in a polygamous family. Her mother sired six children and the other children under the genealogy of her father are incalculable. She needs to sit down and count them from her father’s first wife until the last. Being a girl on a polygamous family, she was not spared from challenges women as a whole face. From birth she was automatically rendered a future beggar. Her education was considered optional and it was the first thing to be sacrificed in a crisis. Her brothers, uncles and male cousins’ needs had to come first for the family. The family’s future was seen to be in their hands and blood, so it was to them that the family’s resources should be spent primarily. As if that was not enough, the family was so much immersed in poverty. School fees and levies were a luxury they could only dream of and there wasn’t enough for the family to eat. â€Å"I lost count of how many other people’s fields we worked in to make ends meet with my mother. A week before I was supposed to go to secondary school, I neither had school fees nor secured a place at any school. † â€Å"I could spend the whole day in the garden with my mother. For example, at Chifamba Secondary School the pass rate for girls is pegged at 10 percent. Research revealed that in Sub-Saharan Africa, 24 million girls cannot afford to go to school and as a result a girl may marry as young as 13. Camfed executive director for Zimbabwe and Malawi, Ms Angeline Murimirwa said it is vital to improve educational access, progression and completion for marginalised secondary school girls. â€Å"The coverage of bursaries will span for four years in 28 rural districts including resettlement areas. The other money will provide a package of support to schools, training of school development committees and support for parents to enable children currently out of school to enrol,† she said. Ms Murimirwa said it is imperative to enhance participation of women in national activities from district level. â€Å"Most secondary school girls drop out of school opting to get married or as a result of lacking financial support. â€Å"Organisations need to cherish marginalised communities and the idea that women constitute a greater percentage to the national population,† she said.

The narrator described a boy who wished or longed to become a great swimmer. His bed became his pool. As he jumped to his bed, he feels like he was the greatest swimmer ever. He became a dolphin with a shoal using his thigh and flexible body. His imagination turned into reality as he closes his eyes and thinks of a swimming paradise. However, a dream is always a dream. The boy went back to reality as he heard someone threw a stone in his window. The first stanza of the poem seemed to be difficult because it shows abundant signs and symbolisms that readers could not thoroughly understand the topic of the poem or the attack of the author to the aspect of creativity and imagination. The most difficult part in this stanza is the first three lines – Upon the ecstatic diving board the diver, / poise for parabolas, let’s go / let’s go his manshape to become a bird. In the first read, I can say that I could not understand the scenario of the poem because of the complexities of the diving board for water and bird for air but after reading it many times, it simply represents the depiction of the boy imagining himself as a diver with a high jump like a bird before coming to the water pool. On the other hand, my favorite passage in this poem is in the second stanza – He rolls in his heap of fruit, / he slides his belly over / the melonrinds of water, curved and smooth and green. For me it illustrates the childish act of the boy as he imagines himself as a diver in a deep pool. His flexible body and astonishing moves give me an idea about the conviction of the boy to become a swimmer or it can also be seen as a frustration of thought as he wanted to pursue his dream. BTK Strangler Dennis Rader Profile On Friday, February 25, 2005 suspected BTK Strangler, Dennis Lynn Rader, was arrested in Park City, Kansas and later charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder. The day following his arrest Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams announced in a press conference, the bottom line is that BTK has been arrested. Raders Early Years Rader was one of four sons to parents William and Dorothea Rader. The family lived in Wichita where Rader attended Wichita Heights High School. After a brief attendance in 1964 to Wichita State University, Rader joined the U.S. Air Force. He spent the next four years as a mechanic for the Air Force and was stationed abroad in South Korea, Turkey, Greece, and Okinawa. Rader Leaves the Air Force After the Air Force, he returned home and began working on obtaining his college degree. He first attended Butler County Community College in El Dorado then transferred to Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. In the fall of 1973, he returned to Wichita State University where in 1979 he graduated with a major in Administration of Justice. A Work History With A Common Thread While at Wichita State he worked part-time in the meat department at an IGA in Park City.From 1970 to 1973 he was an assembler at the Coleman Company, assembling camping gear and equipment.From November 1974 to July 1988 he worked for a home security company, ADT Security Services, where he had access to homes as an installation manager. It has also been noted that the business increased as community fear of the BTK killer increased.From 1990 until his arrest in 2005, Rader was a supervisor of the Compliance Department at Park City, a two-maned, multi-functional department in charge of animal control, housing problems, zoning, general permit enforcement and a variety of nuisance cases. His performance in his position was described as overzealous and extremely strict by neighbors.He also served as a census field operations supervisor in 1989. Active in Church and a Cub Scout Leader Radar married Paula Dietz in May 1971 and had two children after the murders began. They had a son in 1975 and a daughter in 1978. Also during this time a tissue sample of Raders daughter was seized and submitted for DNA testing. The sample was a familial match to the semen collected at one of the BTK crime scenes. The Arrest of Dennis Rader On February 25, 2005, Rader was stopped by authorities while in route to his home. At that point, several law enforcement agencies converged on Raders home and began searching for evidence to link Rader to the BTK murders. They also searched the church he belonged to and his office at City Hall. Computers were removed at both his office and his home along with a pair of black pantyhose and a cylindrical container. Rader is Charged With 10 BTK Murders On March 1, 2005, Dennis Rader was officially charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder and his bond set at $10 million. Rader appeared before Judge Gregory Waller via video conference from his jail cell and listened to the 10 counts of murder read against him, while family members of his victims and some of his neighbors watched from the courtroom. On June 27, 2005, Dennis Rader plead guilty to 10 counts of first-degree murder then calmly told the court the chilling details of the Bind, Torture, Kill slayings that terrorized the Wichita, Kansas area between 1974 and 1991. With Jim’s dad underestimating him it causes Jim to underestimate what he can do.
